Choose the option that best describes your current situation in Germany:
Angestellter –
Employee with a work contract (full-time or part-time).
→ If you work for a company and receive a monthly salary, choose this.
Berufsausbildung (z.B. Azubi) –
Vocational training / apprenticeship.
→ Select this if you are an apprentice (Azubi) in a recognized training program.
Selbständiger / Selbstzahler –
Self-employed / freelancer / paying contributions independently.
→ For freelancers, contractors, entrepreneurs and anyone working independently.
Rentner (nur gesetzl. Rente) –
Retiree receiving the statutory (public) pension.
→ Only choose this if you receive a German public pension (gesetzliche Rente).
Student –
University student enrolled in a German institution.
→ For bachelor’s, master’s or long-term academic programs.

If you are an employee → find this in your work contract or payslip (Bruttogehalt).
If you are self-employed → use your estimated average monthly income before taxes.
Students with no income typically leave this as 0 or fill only if required by the form.
